Every time I called, it took Aeromexico a very long time to locate my reservation. A week before our departure, I checked again. I checked almost monthly to make sure the airlines had our reservations and seats. I bought the tickets from Expedia 8 months in advance. In North American airports, we usually approach the check-in counter first, weigh the luggage and then go pay for excess luggage, don't we? How could the airlines bump those people? I don't know. There were 10 total passengers from our flight (MEX-LIM) and a Mexican-American family who had gone to pay for their excess luggage for a flight to Chicago.
We were not the only duped Aeromexico passengers that night. I had to buy new tickets to resume our trip and get us home.
